Midas Gold Idaho wants to keep the community informed about the work we are doing at the Stibnite Gold Project site. The Ask Midas blog series gives the experts in our company a chance to answer some of the community’s most frequently asked questions and help clear up any misconceptions around the project.
Midas Gold is committed to restoring the Stibnite Gold Project site. However, what ensures environmental restoration will take place when mining is complete? I’m here to explain how we can guarantee we will take care of the environment in this week’s “Ask Midas” post.
What ensures that environmental restoration is completed?
Before work can commence on site, we will be required to set aside all funds required to reclaim the site. We will work carefully with the relevant federal and state regulators to determine exactly how much money will be needed to restore the area. We designed our Plan of Restoration and Operations to require the repair many of the historical environmental impacts early in the life of the Project, during construction or early operations, which ensures that they will happen. We also plan to continue restoration and reclamation work in parallel while we are operating the mine. The environment and industry can go hand and hand and we’ve designed our project with that principal in mind.
