Perpetua Resources (TSX: PPTA) announced today it has received the Clean Air Act Permit to Construct for the Stibnite gold project from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (“IDEQ”) on June 17, 2022.
The company said that the Air Permit mandates compliance with state and federal air standards and regulates emissions from construction and operation of the project.
“Receipt of our first permit marks a significant milestone for the Stibnite gold project,” stated President and CEO Laurel Sayer. “The approval demonstrates our commitment to comply with state and federal standards and the dedication of our team to fulfill the requirements of the permitting process.”
Perpetua said that the final Air Permit is designed to ensure protection of public health and the environment, adding that emissions allowed by the Air Permit are consistent with the mine plan currently under review in the federal permitting process.
According to a press-release, the Air Permit is one of many permits Perpetua is seeking in parallel with the National Environmental Policy Act process, and the company continues to anticipate the release of a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement in the third quarter of 2022.
Perpetua Resources is focused on the exploration, site restoration and redevelopment of gold-antimony-silver deposits in the Stibnite-Yellow Pine district of central Idaho that are encompassed by the Stibnite gold project.
The company said that the project is one of the highest-grade, open pit gold deposits in the United States and is designed to apply a modern, responsible mining approach to restore an abandoned mine site and produce both gold and the only mined source of antimony in the United States.
