Building In Restoration from the Start

From Past to Present
Stibnite has a long history of mining stretching back more than a century, much of it predating today’s environmental standards. When early operators stopped mining, they left behind legacy materials and contamination, disrupted ecosystems, and streams and wildlife habitat in need of repair. A modest restoration effort in the 1990s made a start, but the site still needs a more complete, modern approach to restoration – the kind of comprehensive stewardship that the Stibnite Project is designed to deliver.
From Impact to Opportunity
The Stibnite Gold Project is designed to address these impacts directly — pairing mining with restoration work that begins early and continues throughout the life of the Project.
The mine plan approved by the U.S. Forest Service includes these features:
Rebuilding the River System
A specially designed fish passage tunnel to reconnect fish to blocked spawning grounds will be constructed before mining begins, and work to restore a natural river channel will occur before mining operations are completed.
Removing and Securing Legacy Waste
Millions of tons of historic mine waste will be reprocessed and stored in a modern, lined facility to improve local water quality conditions and wetlands.
Engineering for Recovery
At Blowout Creek, an engineered rock drain and rebuilt stream channel will be built to stop sediment at the source and allow wetlands to recover.

Environmental Outcomes for the Future
The mine plan approved by the U.S. Forest Service includes designs intended to improve environmental outcomes through:

Improved Water Quality

Reconnected River Systems

Restored Fish Passage

Healthier Wetlands
At Stibnite, restoration is designed as a permanent solution — built to perform for generations and supported by long-term monitoring and accountability. At the end of 2025, Perpetua had posted nearly $160 million in financial assurance to guarantee this work takes place.
