Congressman Mike Simpson is trying to get enough steps in over the next year to equal the distance of walking from Washington, D.C. to Boise. Midas Gold employees are going to join him in his adventure and we invite you to do the same.
The distance between Boise and the U.S. Capitol building is 2,963 miles. Congressman Simpson wants to walk it over the next 12 to 15 months. In order to reach his goal, he will need to log around seven miles each day. He started his walking marathon on June, 1 and will use his activity tracker to keep track of his steps.

According to the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, 29 percent of Idahoans are obese. Congressman Simpson invited Idahoans to join him in his challenge to help others lead a healthier lifestyle. The Congressman has lost close to 70 pounds in the last year and a half by adding more physical activity into his daily routine.

The last few miles of Congressman Simpson’s journey will be a fun run (or walk) from the Idaho Capitol steps to Julia Davis Park near downtown. We hope you will consider joining us and Congressman Simpson as we all work toward leading healthier, active lifestyles.
